Meet Hunter Williams
I was born and raised in Birmingham, and my roots in this city run deep. After graduating from Southern Methodist University, I made the deliberate choice to return home—not just because Birmingham was my birthplace, but because I saw the untapped potential waiting to be realized. I envisioned a city on an upward trajectory and committed myself to becoming a part of that transformative journey.
Now serving my second term representing District 2, I've approached my leadership with a focus on competence, consistency, and bold vision for our communities. As the Chair of the Economic Development & Tourism Committee, I firmly believe that strong cities are built on strong economies. This fundamental belief drives my tireless work to bring sustainable economic opportunities to Birmingham's residents.
Proven Leadership
During my time in office, I've delivered tangible results that have enhanced quality of life throughout District 2 and beyond:
- Successfully negotiated for expanded greenspaces and walking trails throughout District 2, creating recreational opportunities and enhancing community connectivity, while raising home values and improving quality of life.
- Led initiatives to eliminate blight by targeting and removing abandoned structures that posed safety hazards and diminished neighborhood value
- Played an instrumental role in developing Birmingham's landmark projects that now serve as economic engines for our city
- Orchestrated comprehensive mobility enhancements through strategic infrastructure revitalization, prioritizing critical street resurfacing projects that connect our neighborhoods and business corridors
- Championed policies that balance economic growth with community needs, ensuring development benefits all residents
